Transitions and tribulations

With the Ballendrum festival finished. This week has been spent returning to the Birchwood highland film, and adding the finishing touches. Smoothing transitions, trimming the fat and colour correction are just a few of the many tweaks that have been needed to tend to. One of the greatest challenges I have found during the editing stage is the ability to trim my film down to the critical 22 minutes (fixed by the brief for the film). Like I have said before the hardest part about editing is removing clips that won't make the cut. Good film makers will always shoot more than necessary, this is something I have adopted during my time with Birchwood, although doing this has provided a comprehensive bank of media to use; the challenge has been deciding what to leave behind.
